Security & your idea

Security and Data Protection

Your idea is valuable. Here is how I keep it safe, in plain English.

Last updated: October 8, 2026.

The short version: your idea travels over encrypted connections, your card details never touch my systems, the core accounts that hold your data are protected by two-step sign-in, your submission is never used to train AI, and a person reviews every Signal before it reaches you.

Your idea is confidential

Anything you submit is used only to produce your Signal. It is never posted publicly, never sold, and shared only with the service providers that help produce it. You keep all rights to your idea. The full list of providers, and what each one receives, is in the Privacy Policy.

How your data is protected

How AI is used, and what it is not used for

Advanced AI helps research your idea and draft your report. Model training is switched off on the AI account that produces Signals, so your idea is never used to train AI models. Then a person reviews every Signal, checks its sources, and approves the final verdict before it ships. More detail is in the Privacy Policy.

When researching, only short search terms (for example a product category or a proposed brand name) go to public search engines and patent, trademark, and domain databases. Your full submission is never sent to them.

Before you submit sensitive material

Please do not include passwords, financial account numbers, or government ID numbers in your submission; The Signal never needs them. If your idea involves information you may not be free to share, such as an employer's or university's confidential data, unfiled patent details, or material under an NDA or export controls, check with the owner first and email me before submitting so we can agree on how it will be handled.

Keeping and deleting your data

I keep your submission and Signal for up to 3 years after delivery to support the guarantee and follow-ups, then delete it or remove anything that identifies you. You can ask me to delete your data sooner at any time, and I will, apart from the basic order records tax law requires me to keep.

If something goes wrong

If a security incident ever affects your personal information, I will tell you without unreasonable delay, and within the time Texas law requires, along with what happened and what I am doing about it.

Report a security concern

If you believe you have found a security issue with this site, please email marty@everybigidea.com with the details. I will acknowledge it and look into it promptly. Please do not access or change other people's data while investigating.

For universities and companies

If your organization needs a vendor security review before using The Signal, email marty@everybigidea.com. I can share a detailed vendor security and privacy overview and complete standard security questionnaires such as the HECVAT.

Questions about any of this? Email marty@everybigidea.com and I'll answer plainly.
